    Description

So shiny, beautiful and welcoming, this black kukui nut men's lei from Hawaii is the essence of Aloha
Currently measures 37" around, but it has a ribbon tie in back that could be adjusted for a little longer or shorter.
My travel companion received this as a welcome gift to the marvelous Westin Hapuna Beach Resort on a trip to the Big Island in 2019
But never wore it and gifted it to me instead to find a proud new owner on Ebay :) Made of 32 kukui nuts strung on ribbon with little knots in between each nut
The nuts are vaguely heart-shaped and some have dings and scratches as is natural to the nuts themselves, or buff marks from being polished up to their lustrous shine
That's a quarter in the pics for scale.
    "
Kukui nut leis are standard adornments at many traditional Hawaiian events. Here, kukui nuts are typically sanded, buffed and polished into dark brown, black or white finishes. The nuts can be laced together by themselves or interlaced with shells and worn as a
    lei
or bracelet. In the past, people have used kukui nuts as prayer tokens in order to capture one’s spiritual energy. Hula dancers, kahunas (priests) and aili’i (royalty) often wore them. Couples also exchanged kukui nut bracelets during marriage ceremonies."
